Summary
- We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary operations.
- The ideal candidate will assist the Chefs in preparing high-quality, flight-ready meals for clients, ensuring hygiene, efficiency, and precision in all aspects of food preparation and packaging.
- This role is critical to maintaining the high standards expected in catering.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Chef in meal preparation, washing, chopping, marinating, and basic cooking support.
- Ensure all ingredients are cleaned, organised, and properly stored according to food safety standards.
- Report low stock or missing items to the Chef promptly.
- Follow all hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Provide ad-hoc support during ground events or hospitality engagements when needed.
- Maintain a professional attitude, discretion, and high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Support in portioning, plating, and packaging meals for flights, ensuring accuracy and premium presentation quality.
- Maintain a clean, sanitised, and well-organised kitchen environment at all times.
- Wash utensils, cookware, equipment, and ensure the cleanliness of workstations.
- Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and storing incoming deliveries appropriately.
Qualifications
- Interested candidates should possess an FSLC qualification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a kitchen or catering environment (e.g., hotel, restaurant, airline, or corporate setting).
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to take instruction.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
- Have a high standard of personal hygiene and presentation.
- Basic literacy and the ability to follow recipes, labels, and instructions.
- Basic food preparation and handling skills.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices.
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
- Physically fit and able to work on your feet for extended periods.
