Duty Description
- Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to required standard and obstetrical/reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist midwives and nurses in providing comprehensive antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care, ensuring adherence to protocols and standards.
- Support in the implementation of PMTCT protocols during ANC, delivery, and PNC consultations, including pre-counseling, testing, and post-counseling.
- Collaborate with medical doctors and nurses in managing cases of Sexual Violence, ensuring appropriate care and referral.
- Support the assessment of pregnant women for referral from Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) to OPD/MCH for medical evaluation or management of complicated deliveries.
- Support health education for mothers and families on postnatal care, hygiene, and newborn health practices.
- Respect patients’ rights to privacy and confidentiality throughout all interactions.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and coordinate with other health staff to improve service quality and ensure continuous care.
General Accountability:
- The Midwife at OPD NEP Clinic is the main responsible for the Antenatal and Postnatal Consultations and
- Contraceptive Methods / Family Planning Activity; she/he is the focal person for the care and orientation of survivors of sexual violence and abduction.
- Assigned tasks / responsibilities may change or be added based on the changing project needs and strategy.
Sexual & Reproductive Health:
- Ensures the ANC/PNC area is cleaned and well equipped and supplied. Ensures sterilization of materials used in the ANC/PNC.
- Ensure that pregnant women are vaccinated for routine vaccination (TT) including new born in PNC for their routine vaccines (Pentavalent, Measles, Meningitis…).
- Provide the rapid diagnostic tests for Malaria, Syphilis, Urine and HIV when ANC and treatment of common maternal morbidities.
- Awareness on pregnancy, delivery, and their complications, related health promotion, hygiene, nutrition and immunization.
- Providing contraceptive methods/family planning according to users’ choices, monitoring side effects and ensuring follow-up appointments.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Support the MoH teams to ensure appropriate documentations, data collection and storage.
- Preparing, analysing and then sharing with the NAM the daily situation reports (Sitrep) and the monthly medical report (MMR) for ANC, PNC, FP, SV, Abduction).
- Assisting the supervisor in ordering drugs and consumables as required by the department and providing consumption reports.
- Appropriate documentations, record keeping and storage of survivor data.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Midwifery is essential
- Working experience of at least 2 years in midwife activities related jobs is essential. (INGO)
- English Language and the local language are essential.
